A white family stopping for gas in Baton Rouge, Louisiana was attacked by three men and police are not ruling out the possibility of charging
the assailants with a hate crime.
The attack occurred on Sunday night at a local Chevron station after a man, his wife, and his daughter stopped for gas. The family was apparently attacked without cause and the attack was so b****l that it sent the husband to the hospital.
There has already been a push online to charge the attackers with a hate crime for targeting the white family in a mostly black city.
Cpl. Tommy Stubbs of the Baton Rouge Police Department confirmed the arrests of Donald Dickerson on suspicion of second-degree battery and have also issued summons to Devin Bessey, 24, and Ashley Simmons, 22, for simple battery.
Stubbs says the male victim went into the gas station store where he was confronted by Dickerson who told him that he was in the “wrong neighborhood.” When the victim’s wife tried to help, she was knocked unconscious by Bessey. The couple’s 14 year old daughter was p*****d by Simmons when she tried to come to her parent’s aid.
Baton Rouge Police Lt. Don Kelly says the investigation will determine whether or not the trio is charged with a hate crime.
Dickerson has previous arrests for s*x crimes and robberies.
